Official poker is a card game played by people around the world. The rules vary depending on the game type. The game starts by each player anteing some amount of money into the pot (the antes in our games are usually a dime). Players then get dealt cards and can bet on their hand. The highest hand wins the pot.
When you call, you have to bet the same amount as or higher than the amount that was raised before you. In other words, if someone else bet a dollar and you call it, you will need to raise your bet to two dollars.
Unless the rule states otherwise, any card that is exposed by the dealer is considered live. This includes cards that are flipped over by other players or even those that have been placed face up on the table. In addition, if your card is exposed by your own actions, such as checking when another player is all-in, you must still play it.
Players may only check when it is their turn to act in the current betting round. Any action that is stated out loud, such as a bet or a raise, is binding and cannot be reconsidered. If you miss your turn, you must wait until your actual turn comes up again before deciding on an action.
Ties are broken by suit (clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades) and by the highest-ranking card in a hand. If neither of these methods can determine a winner, the odd chip will go to the high hand in a high-low split game.
